What Claude Opus 4.7 actually adds over earlier versions

Opus 4.7 is Anthropic's most capable model to date, with meaningfully stronger reasoning than Sonnet. For SEO work that means it can hold a full keyword cluster, competitor analysis, and content structure in one session without losing the thread. Earlier Claude models would often produce competent copy but weak structure — the hierarchy of headings, internal linking logic, and entity coverage were easy to get wrong.

With Opus 4.7, the planning stage is where it earns its keep. You give it a keyword, a brief on the target audience, and a few notes on what competitors are missing. It returns a page structure with clear rationale for each section. That's not something most content teams do reliably either.

The actual workflow: keyword to indexed page in 24 hours

Julian's workflow runs in roughly four stages. First, he feeds the target keyword and a quick competitor summary into Claude Opus 4.7 and asks for a topical map — the related subtopics, questions, and entities that should be covered for a page to be considered authoritative. Second, the model drafts the full article to that structure. Third, Claude Code publishes the page directly to the site without a manual copy-paste step. Fourth, Google Search Console confirms indexing, typically within a few hours for an established domain.

The part people miss is stage one. The topical map is doing most of the SEO work. If Claude identifies the right entities and gaps, the article is already positioned correctly before a word of copy is written. That planning step is also where the human should apply the most scrutiny — Claude can still get the competitive landscape wrong if your brief is vague.

Where the human still matters

The workflow is not autonomous. Claude Opus 4.7 does not know what you know about your customers, your competitors' specific weaknesses, or the angle that will make a reader stop scrolling. Those inputs come from the brief you write. The better the brief, the better the output — that relationship holds across every AI model, and it is especially true for SEO where the difference between a generic page and a useful one can be the entire gap between ranking and not.

To be fair, Opus 4.7 does catch things earlier models miss. It will flag if you ask it to cover a topic it knows is already well-documented by stronger sources, and it will suggest narrower angles where a new page is more likely to compete. That is genuinely useful. But it still needs you to make the final call on angle and audience.

For a one or two-person SEO operation, Claude Opus 4.7 plus Claude Code effectively removes the production bottleneck. You spend your time on keyword selection, brief writing, and quality review.
