Video: "NEW Google Gemini AI Agents are INSANE!" by Julian Goldie on YouTube.

What Google actually announced

The short version: Google took Vertex AI — its existing developer platform for building on top of Gemini — and rebranded it under the Gemini Enterprise name. It is the same underlying infrastructure, but with more structure around how you build, deploy, and manage AI agents.

The additions that matter are Agent Studio, a low-code visual environment for building agent workflows, and Agent Gateway, which handles routing between agents and connects them to external services. Underneath, there is access to over 200 models through Google's Model Garden, which means you are not locked into just Gemini — you can pull in open-source and third-party models via the same interface.

This was announced at Google Cloud Next '26 in April 2026. Worth knowing: this is a developer and enterprise platform, not something you log into and start using this afternoon. It requires Google Cloud infrastructure and developer involvement to set up.

The agent capabilities Google is describing

Google's framing is that Gemini Enterprise supports networks of collaborating agents rather than a single chatbot. The idea is that one agent might handle research, another manages writing, a third reviews output and flags issues — all coordinated without a human in the loop for each step.

Agent Studio lets you define those workflows visually. You wire together steps, set conditions, and connect to data sources without writing infrastructure code. In practice this lowers the skill floor for building multi-agent systems, which previously required significant back-end engineering.

That said, "low-code" still means some code. And the complexity is in the design of the workflow and the quality of the prompts, not just the wiring. Businesses that have struggled to get useful output from a single AI will not automatically do better with five agents running in sequence.

What this means for the GEO angle

Gemini runs the generative layer in Google's AI Overviews — the summaries that appear at the top of certain searches. The more capable Gemini's agent infrastructure becomes, the more Google's answers can draw on live data, multiple sources, and structured reasoning rather than just pattern-matching from training data.

For businesses trying to appear in those AI-generated answers, the implication is that the content Google chooses to cite will increasingly be content that is specific, well-sourced, and formatted in ways that agents can reliably parse. Generic copy is harder to cite; detailed, fact-dense writing that directly answers a question is easier.

In practice, this is not a new strategy — it is the same argument for quality over volume that has applied to SEO for years. What changes is that the evaluation is increasingly automated, and the systems doing that evaluation are Google's own agents.

Who should pay attention to this right now

If you are already building on Google Cloud and using Gemini APIs in production, the Gemini Enterprise rebrand brings everything under one roof and the new tooling is worth evaluating.

If you are a smaller business that does not currently touch Google Cloud infrastructure, this announcement does not change much for you in the short term. The practical impact lands when these agent capabilities show up in tools you already use — Google Workspace, Search, and the broader suite — which will happen gradually over the next year or two.

To be fair, that is a reasonable response to almost every major cloud AI announcement. The gap between what gets announced and what is genuinely usable by a normal business tends to be 12 to 24 months.
